Chasing Up Referrals

 

Following the pandemic, waiting times for certain treatments are much longer than the NHS would normally like. Once the surgery has submitted a referral we are unable to trace the current waiting times for individuals and would recommend that you contact the service you have been referred to direct, or visit NHS: My Planned Care to get up to date information on waiting times for each hospital.

If you have been told you will be waiting longer than this, or you have not heard about an appointment, please contact the hospital Patient Advice & Liaison Services (PALS) on 01903 285032.

Please note we cannot expedite a referral unless you have new or worsening symptoms.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME Referrals Haywards Heath

Acknowledge receipt of referral (usually same day as we receive the emailed referral) supported with a brief handout for the patient. Triage is usually carried out within 5 days and the patient is sent a set of questionnaires to complete. Once completed and returned and provided we have everything we need from the surgery (missing bloods, reports etc), the patient will then go on a wait list for an assessment appointment.

Once they have received the referral an acknowledgement letter is sent out to the patient. They are currently booking appointments for people who were referred to the service in September 2017. These individuals have had to wait on average 33 to 36 months.
